09/07/2010 - Oakland, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Oakland Athletics on Tuesday selected the contract of outfielder Jeremy Hermida from Triple-A Sacramento.

The A's signed Hermida last week after he was released by the Boston Red Sox, and was promptly shipped to Sacramento. While there, he hit .308 with two doubles, three runs scored and three RBI in three games.

Hermida, who appeared in 52 games for the Red Sox this season, was sent to Triple-A Pawtucket and released just before the waiver deadline. He batted .203 with five homers and 27 RBI in the majors.

In 568 career games, most with Florida, Hermida has a .259 batting average with 62 homers and 237 RBI.
